One of the stories in our reading series is called Cool, Crazy Crickets. It is about some kids who set up a club and build a clubhouse. After we read the story the kids split into groups and set up clubs. They were very creative. There was a Cooking Club, an Art Club, a Detective Agency Club, a Sports Club and a Game Club. They made up rules and designed and created signs. Then they built a clubhouse using desks and sheets. Last, they wrote a persuasive speech to try to convince the other kids to join their clubs. They also got to eat lunch and do math in their clubhouses. Great learning, great fun and a wonderful opportunity to problem solve and work together as we were learning about synergy.
