A Fun Trip to China - Chinatown!

We read a book called Chinatown.  It is about a little boy who lives in Chinatown and his family's traditions and way of life.  We all thought it was very interesting and learned a little about the country of China.  Over Thanksgiving Break, Miss Melanie visited Chinatown in San Francisco and bought some fun stuff back for the kids.
When we came back to school, we all got to go on an imaginary trip to China. We had Passports and learned you must have them for International Travel.  On our flight to China we enjoyed real Mandarin House Rice which we ate or at least tried to eat with real chopsticks. We watched a movie about The Great Wall of China.  After we landed we boarded a tour bus and learned about many of the interesting facts about China.  We learned that many years ago people were not allowed to have their heads higher than the Emperor,  We learned that now families in China are only allowed to have one child or they will be heavily taxed. We learned that the Chinese people invented the yo-yo to use as a weapon.  We learned that, at one time, the Great Wall of China was over 13,000 miles long and is over 2,000 years old.  Much of the Great Wall has disappeared.  The trip was very interesting.
