Learning Buddies

One teaching strategy that I have found very successful is using Learning Buddies.  A higher reader is coupled with a struggling reader and they help each other with all kinds of learning.  We never discuss which one is which.  Each month the kids are rotated to a different Learning Buddy.  An extra benefit is that they usually become better friends and it is a great way to build empathy, patience and understanding and team building.
