Partners of Ten

The kids each had a partner, a bowl and ten cubes.  One partner closed his/her eyes.  The other partner placed some cubes on top of the bowl and some underneath.  Then the other partner looked at the amount on top and had to name home many were under the bowl.  Partners of Ten was super fun.

The Rainbow War

For Fantastic Friday we watched a movie called The Rainbow War.  It is about three kingdoms Red, Yellow and Blue (Primary colors).  They are fighting about which kingdom is the best.  They decided to fight with paint.  As the paints mixed together they made secondary colors, orange, green, purple etc.  It is delightful.  Then we painted using both primary and secondary colors.  We have really talented, creative painters.

We learned how to add quickly using Touch Points.  Super fun!

Read, Read, Read, Read, Read,

It was so much fun to watch how much the kids love to read.  Each student got a 'bag of books' and found a place in the room and read and read.  They seem to excited to be back to school.

A Royal Welcome to Second Grade!

It is always so much fun to meet my new students.  I am super excited for this year.  We had a really fun tea party and learned about manners and how royals treat each other.  We loved having a "spot of tea" (watermelon punch), Chessmen cookies, grapes and ham and cheese.  We loved our new crowns.  It was a great day.
