Art Day Fun!

As part of our common core standard to know and understand different mediums of art and the artists that produce it, We studied four different artists.  We wrote paragraphs about David Michaelangelo, Frida Kahlo, Jackson Pollock and Beatrice Wood. The kids got to produce art in the style of each.Miss Melanie's daughter-in-law, Victoria Mendoza Hyde is a professional artist, taught the kids about Frida Kahlo and her remarkable style. She uses symbolism in her portraits and the kids did an amazing job. The next project was we splatter painted in the style of Jackson Pollock. Then they painted under their desks like Michaelangelo painted the Cysteine chapel. Last, the kids made a clay project like Beatrice Wood.  The kids did awesome and learned so much.

Coolest Field Trip Ever

The kids were awesome!  First, we went to the Fort Hall Replica.  Our guide was amazing.  She showed us around and taught us a lot about the old west.  Each of the kids got to pretend like they were a blacksmith and hit a horse shoe with a big mettle hammer.  Then we went back down to the Zoo.  We did a fun scavenger hunt looking for animals who are herbivores, omnivores and carnivores and noticing the differences. Next, we visited the Bannock County Historical Museum were we got to go on another scavenger hunt to find old-fashioned things.  Last, we went to Ross Park and had a picnic.  It was a great trip.
