Loads of Learning on St. Patrick's Day.

First, Miss Howell taught the kids facts about the real Saint Patrick and his influence on Ireland and the world.  We learned about the difference between fact and opinion, legends and proof.  Then she taught the kids how to write a narrative.  They got to tell a story about catching a Leprechaun.  The kid's stories were fun and very clever.  Next, with Miss Howell's help, they finished their 'plant diaries'.  It was so much fun to watch them grow from beans.  Last, we made Leprechaun hats and went on a Leprechaun hunt and found some gold.  We were concerned because the Leprechauns tied Miss Howell up.  Thank goodness, our Leprechaun hunters were able to save her.

Yummy Thunder Cake

One of the stories we read as a whole group was called Thunder Cake.  It is about a little girl who is afraid of a terrible thunder storm.  Her grandma helps her make a cake that will be finished at the same time the storm gets to her house.  We learned about the weather and how if affects plants and trees.  Then we got to eat Thunder Cake.

Thank you Dr. McCord and Staff - We loved the Field Trip
