Learning the Touch Point Strategy!

In second grade we are learning many different strategies for addition and subtraction.  One of our favorites is adding using Touch Points.  Each number has the corresponding amount of dots (Touch points), then we count them and get the correct answer.  We played Pop-Up Add with the numbers. As soon as the kids figured out the answer, they popped-up and sat on their desks.  It was big time fun!

A ROYAL WELCOME! A Whole New Year, A Whole New World, Amazing New Students

Wowzers, I was so excited to meet my new kids.  They are delightful.  We had a super fun Tea Party for our Royal Welcome to Second Grade.  The kids were so cute when they raised their little pinkies in the air, like real royals do, and asked, "Would you like a spot of tea?"  They were even getting the English accent down.  This is going to be a terrific year!
